Newsletter from 12th June:

I hope everyone’s had a great week.

This week I got started with playing about with ideas for the month of February on my Melted Fabrics calendar.
You can find out about the calendar here:

And February specifically here:
I’m still working on ideas for it, here’s one of the doodles I’ve been working on:

Self Doodle

I’ve made a lens about my love of Klimt’s paintings and how he’s inspired my textiles work. If you’re interested, check it out here:

This lens is about how I recycle fabrics and where my fabrics come from:

Just to prove I can be demure sometimes, here are the textiles for a bag I'm working on at the moment:

A quick appeal to anyone who loves reading urban fantasy/ fantasy/ whimsical/ mythical tales:

I don't know her personally, but Catherynne M Valente is the author of one of my favourite books, The Orphan’s Tales. I recently heard she’s having some serious financial difficulties, so if you enjoy mythical or fantasy novels I really recommend her work. It’s not a case of not being able to pay the mortgage, it’s a case of not being able to pay the rent or buy food.

In her livejournal entry here she talks about a book she’s writing for free and posting to her journal with just a donate button where you can pay whatever you like for each chapter.

And this sounds like a really awesome idea:
For $10 a month ($100 for the year) Catherynne will send you a package which includes a short story, artwork and mystery other bits and pieces. $10 isn’t a lot to just try it for one month. Remember if you’re not in the US to ask her the price for your country.

You can also buy her e-books here: including TheOrphan's Tales Vol 1 & 2.

The orphan's tales features a girl who has stories written in dense tiny lettering around her eyes.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Happy Crafting!
